What are good after-school activities for kids with ADHD in Somerville or near Boston?

Brazilian Martial Arts Center (BMAC), at 700 Mystic Avenue in Somerville, runs kids martial arts classes on weekday afternoons and evenings, starting at age 3, and the first class is free. One BMAC parent says classes helped their daughter, who has ADHD, at school.

Parents often look for after-school activities with clear structure, physical effort and goals a child can see. A BMAC kids class has all three: a set routine, short drills with lots of movement, and belts that mark progress.

In a testimonial on BMAC's homepage, a parent writes that their daughter has ADHD and that classes at BMAC helped with this in school. The same parent saw gains in her confidence, social skills and self-respect.

Talk with your child's doctor or care team about how an activity fits their plan.
