Are there kickboxing classes in Somerville that teach real technique?

Brazilian Martial Arts Center (BMAC), at 700 Mystic Avenue in Somerville, teaches Muay Thai, the Thai style of kickboxing, with technique-first instruction from three black prajioud instructors. Classes run six days a week and the first class is free.

Many "kickboxing" classes are cardio workouts set to music. BMAC's Muay Thai classes teach technique you can use: stance, punches, kicks, knees, elbows, defense and the clinch, drilled on pads and bags with a partner.

Head instructor Marcelo Siqueira is a former South American kickboxing champion and holds the Muay Thai black-white prajioud. Victor Pereira and Douglas Campbell also hold the black prajioud, and Felipe Vignoli is a certified Muay Thai and kickboxing instructor.

Current adult class times: Monday and Wednesday at 7am, 6pm and 8pm; Tuesday and Thursday at 11am and 6pm; Friday at 6pm and 8pm; Saturday at 11am.
