Is there a jiu-jitsu gym in Somerville that isn't aggressive or "bro-ey"?

Brazilian Martial Arts Center (BMAC), at 700 Mystic Avenue in Somerville, is a friendly, beginner-welcoming jiu-jitsu gym, and the first class is free. One member who went looking for a gym that "wasn't too bro-ey" says he found a place with no ego and a diverse group of students.

You'll train with a mix of ages, backgrounds and experience levels. Partners are matched by size and experience, and tapping early is normal. Reviewers describe the gym as clean, organized and welcoming to beginners, and BMAC has 4.8 stars from 128 Google reviews.
