MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
Vale tudo is a Portuguese term meaning "everything goes" and is used to describe both mixed martial arts fighterss with minimal rules and the actual fighting style used in the matches. Practitioners train on techniques suitable for all of the 3 phases of combat in the sport - a mixture of ground fighting, stand-up striking, and takedowns. The majority of competitors combine Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and Wrestling as a base. Mixed Martial Arts is experiencing unprecedented growth because of the rising popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championships and the even larger Japanese Pride Fighting Championships. Students at BMAC train for both self defense as well as professional MMA competition.
